Fiber Installation Policy

We're excited you're joining the fiber revolution! Here's what to expect during your 186Fiber installation.

Congratulations on Choosing Fiber!

Fiber optic internet is the fastest, most reliable technology available — delivering unmatched speed, low latency, and future-proof performance for streaming, gaming, remote work, and smart homes.

The 186Fiber Installation Process

Here's a step-by-step overview of what happens when we bring fiber to your home or business:

  1. Address Verification & Service Options
After your initial inquiry, we'll confirm your address and available plans. We'll classify your location as "On-Net" (standard installation) or "Off-Net". You'll review and agree to our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service.
  2. Site Survey (You Must Be Present)
A technician will visit to plan the optimal fiber route from your property to our nearest network point. Please identify any underground features (septic systems, sprinklers, invisible fences, etc.). You'll approve the route, estimated costs, and sign our liability waiver.
  3. Utility Marking (Miss Dig / 811)
We notify Miss Dig to mark public utilities (typically within 3 business days). Do not disturb these markings — they're essential for safe installation.
  4. Installation Day
Our team installs the fiber line, exterior termination box (with ONU equipment), runs interior wiring, and sets up your router. See details below for what's included.
  5. Account Activation & Payment
We'll set up autopay with your credit card. First month's service + installation fees are due before the technician departs. You'll get portal access (username = your email) for managing your account. Need help? Call 888-299-0071 or use our contact form.
  6. Post-Installation Responsibility
For any future digging, always call 811 (Miss Dig) and notify 186networks. You're responsible for damage to buried lines on your property.
